Doe-eyed gazes
Fallen from the crests
Where hearts and minds
Once gracefully aligned

Minds, broken fragments
Awash in scattered ashes
Hold secrets in their hollows
Where ghostly pasts are hiding
Untouched by dusty pastures

When the heavens are starlit
My consciousness illuminates my being
My mind is deafeningly silenced
And with my beating heart
The boundless beauty of life unfolds

Did we forget nature’s invitation
To pause and drink its grandeur?
Did we ponder foul and fair
And grow from lessons dealt?
Have we denied our truest selves?

The autumnal chill was shattered
As flaming spears from the grate
Spilled wild fevers through the writer’s cove
Illuminating the inky heavens
Glinting celestial scatterings unveiled
Yet the moon remained cautious
Cloaked within clusters of cloud
Only the advancing sleeper train
Its loudening hypnotic rhythms
Seduced it to unmask its glory
To play hide-and-seek upon its reflective roof
Like a panther awakened from restless slumbers
Journeying through misty terrains unknown
Meandering, a hungry predatory prowler
Edgy and uncertain of where it would rest
Yet convinced and compelled of its onslaught
